Winery
The starting point for Viña Fundación
(Foundation Vineyard) is Santa Rosa in Mendoza. Here we have established our more than 6000 hectares , with 1000
of them in full production. The sandy soil and generous amount of underground water, the exceptional climate with long, warm summers and cold winters are ideal
to obtain high quality wines.
The Wine Cellar
The construction of the first wine cellar of our winery was carried out in 1975 by a company called “Recoaro”, who was the previous owner. In 1998 Viña
Fundación de Mendoza decided to acquire the company and stimulate its
growth. At present, a 12000 square meter building, surrounded by our own vineyards, alow us to work with a total capacity of 25
million liters distributed amongst stainless steel tanks, steel tanks and French oak barrels (Seguin Moreau).
Vineyards
The exceptional
terroir; sandy soils, plenty of underground water and permanent sunshine, together with long, warm
summers and cold winters and great amplitude of temperature between night and day typical of the dessert, make grapes ripen and mature with great character
allowing our winemakers to produce exceptional wines.
Our vineyards are: Don Antonio (310
hectares cultivated with Barbera, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Chenin Blanc and Tocai Friulano), Don Umberto (310 hectares cultivated with Cabernet Sauvignon,
Bonarda, Malbec, Sangiovese, Tempranilla, Torrentes Riojano), La Emilia (162 hectares where Malbec matures together with Chardonnay and Ugni Blanc) and
La Germana (120 hectares dedicated mainly to cultivate Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranilla and Bonarda). |
