Winery
Castellari Bergaglio is a family owned winery
with vines over 80 years old. From 300m a.s.l., the farm and winery of Castellari Bergaglio
overlooks the Rovereto area, with its typical reddish soil rich in clay and iron, where the noble cortese vine variety has found its ideal location, and grows
abundantly.
Over ten hectares of vineyards produce grapes of excellent quality, balanced by acidity, to make wines with a harmonious, delicate bouquet, which maintain their
typical characteristics for several years.
Winemaker
The winery is run in the traditional
way by Mario Bergaglio, his wife Vanda Castellari and their son Marco. The family supervises every phase of the winemaking process from the vineyard to
vinification, using modern methods, not only to monitor their own product, but in order to enhance the heritage of Gavi itself, launching its unquestionable
historical and cultural potential.
Vineyards
Castellari Bergaglio has two vineyards. One is located in Cortese
di Gavi and the other in Gavi.

Gavi comes from the Piedmont area of Italy, and is made primarily with the Cortese grape. The two wines coming
out of this region are Gavi and Cortese di Gavi. This is Italy's most expensive white wine shipped to the US.
Gavi, for Italians, is the standard "Bianco" (white). Gavi tends to have a straw color and a neutral, mild
aroma. It is very acidic. Its unassuming flavor is usually fruity, persistent, dry and balanced. Gavi goes very well with fish.
