Cloud 9 Wine
Winery
Cloud 9 represents the shared vision of three talented, longtime wine professionals. This ultra-premium red wine blend from
California’s premier growing regions combines old world charm of Spain, sophistication of France, and the elegance of Italy. As the American wine drinker
evolves and matures, more food friendly wines are the direction of the future. What about crossing the boundaries of tradition? They decided to honor these
traditions, crafting blends that capture the best from each region. The resulting wine is luscious, balanced, and elegant.
Winemaker
Scott Harvey, Cloud 9’s executive winemaker, grew up in the
Sierra Foothill region of California and has helped it to emerge as one of the most distinctive appellations in California. His untamed desire for adventure
took him to Germany as an exchange student, where he became even more deeply committed to a career in wine.
In April, 1996, Scott moved to the Napa Valley as Winemaker at Folie á Deux Winery – quickly rising to the
position of President and General Manager. In 2001, Scott Harvey met Scott Heron and became enamored with the Cloud 9 vision. He joined the Cloud 9 team and
introduced his own label – Scott Harvey Wines – in June, 2003. In 2004, Scott left Folie á Deux to concentrate on his own endeavors – including Cloud 9.
Recently, a Scott Harvey Barbera was judged to be the 3rd best Barbera in the world at an Italian tasting (the home of the barbera grape), with Scott being
flown to Italy for formal presentation of this award.
Vineyards
Seity is Cloud 9’s first vineyard-designated wine - from a vineyard that unquestionably epitomizes Cloud
9’s drive for quality and distinctiveness. This 10-acre vineyard is home to the oldest Zinfandel vines on Earth, with proof of existence dating to 1869 (hence
its name: Vineyard 1869) when the vineyard was listed as a descriptor on a deed from the U.S. Geological Survey. The roots plunge to a depth of nearly 20 feet,
passing through multiple soil layers and adding unique flavor components and complexity that can only be found in such a historic vineyard. Lying on a
north-facing slope in the Sierra Foothills, the vineyard flowers and ripens later than most and is typically the last vineyard to be harvested in Amador County.
