Wine Selections from
Tentuta La Carlina - La Togata
[ Azzurreta ] [ Rosso di Montalcino ] [ Brunello ] [ Brunello Riserva ]
Winery
Tentuta La Carlina is a small winery in Montalcino (Siena).
The vinyeards are in the Brunello zone of Pieve di. S. Sigismondo and also partly in Montosoli. The vineyards are on terraced land with exposure to the west.
The age of the vines is over 20 years.
All of the grapes used for these wines are Sangiovese Grosso grapes.
These are the very best fruit from Tuscany and most often reserved only for Brunello. The fruit is all hand-picked and processed using traditional winemaking techniques. The wine
is aged in French barriques (225 lt) from Tonellerie Barthomieu. The wine cellar is a stone cellar and the air is purified using modern technology.
Florence's region continues
to advance its position as the nation's most dynamic producer of premium wines, following decades of turning out popular Chianti in straw-covered flasks.
Tuscany's modern renaissance in wine began in Chianti, in the central hills around Siena and Florence, but it rapidly spread to take in the strip along the
Mediterranean coast that was not previously noted for vineyards.
Much of the progress has come with classical reds based on the native Sangiovese
vine, Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Carmignano, all DOCG. But growing success with other reds (especially the stylish
non-DOC wines known as "Super Tuscans") has been augmented by new styles of whites to enhance the region's reputation.
